Security Challenges with Virtualization
Now that most end-user companies have implented one form or another of virtualization technology, it is important to note the security implications and risks that virtualization can effect. Customers typically have security solutions for their HW products, etc., but they do not have security solutions that protect the hypervisor level. This can cause the following effects:
-Stolen VMs,
-Management vulnerabilities
-VM sprawl
-Malicious hypervisors that attack hosted VMs
IBM Virtual Security Server, or VSS, allows customers to realize the benefits of virtualization, while maintaining their security posture.
This solution is an easy entry-point for both current and existing VMware customers. Make sure to utilize your install list as a starting point.
IBM makes it easy for IBM BPs to sell VSS. There are no additional certifications for this solution (beyond the standard IBM ISS certifications).
